There is no hierarchy of suffering; everyone is affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
THE REFOCUS APPROACH
Our Approach to drug and alcohol rehab focuses
on therapy, education and aftercare.
Surrounded by people who share mutual challenges, there is always a clear pathway with the Refocus Approach – carefully constructed over two decades – enabling people to make better decisions.
The Approach offers connection, encouraging steps to community and the opportunity to reclaim those most important matters in life.
Individualised practices, therapy, education and aftercare create a framework for sustainable self-transformation and relationship repair.
Drug Rehab Therapy and Education
There are three elements we focus on in the therapy and education phases of our
individualised approach to drug and alcohol rehabilitation:
We provide tools and education to manage life, growth and day-to-day responsibilities during rehabilitation.
The Refocus Approach to Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous 12-step fellowships and our lifelong Aftercare community program.
Mind and Soul
We focus on your health and fitness through a wholesome, balanced diet and a daily routine prioritising exercise and sleep.
What is addiction?
Addiction is not a problem - it is a symptom. Addiction is an attempt to solve a human life problem.
Addiction can manifest in temporary pleasure and repeated relief behaviour; the beholder craves and cannot resist or give up despite long-term negative consequences.
Addiction is an individual's solution to escape, relieve and soothe pain, anxiety, stress, loneliness or trauma.
You cannot punish pain out of people.
You cannot shame or bully people into recovery.
People have to feel safe, heard, witnessed, validated and nurtured at every stage of the journey. However, Refocus is not a “soft” approach.
Refocus educates and empowers individuals to regain control over choices, using coping strategies to make more informed, healthier decisions with better outcomes. Connecting to a therapeutic community with peer identification is a significant component.
It is a course of self-discovery to walk a new path, to see why historical choices and actions have led to a state of chaos and unmanageability. It is a proven human approach to seeing life through a new lens to choose a different direction.
WHAT DOES ‘HUMAN APPROACH’ MEAN?
We are here to provide treatment and support to someone who is experiencing problems (including with crystal methamphetamine ('ice') or other drugs.
Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Australia. If you suspect that you drink too much, or someone you live with might have a problem, then it might be helpful to know the warning signs and where to find help.
Due to societal pressures, Marijuana can be one of the hardest substances to give up. The increasing social acceptance of Marijuana contributes to this in the same way it contributes to alcoholics not wanting to quit.
We specialise in many different addiction treatments and recovery facets, and cocaine addiction and abuse are a major part of our intensive care treatment programs offered at our cocaine rehabilitation centre.
We provide a range of treatments, including medicines and behavioural therapies, in helping people stop heroin use. It’s important to match the best treatment approach to meet the particular needs of each individual patient.
Every person facing alcohol and drug addiction has walked their own path. We’ve walked that route and want to help you walk it through with us. At Refocus rehab in Melbourne, Victoria, we exist to help you discover a new path that heads in your true north. Drug and alcohol addiction: how to refocus
